1) Internet Safety

Always keep your home computer in a family room
Be aware that many Pedophiles are looking to snare possible victims on the internet and will masquerade as a child themselves.
Tell your children about the possible dangers about meeting friends on the internet and make sure that they never reveal their home address or phone number or anything personal about themselves .

2) Stranger Danger

Have a family password which only you and your children know and tell them that if for some reason you cannot pick them up from school etc. only to go with adults who know the secret password
Make sure that your children are aware of 'stranger danger' and know never to talk to strangers
Tell your children never to accept gifts, sweets etc. or invitations from anybody

3) Parental Awareness

Always know the exact location of your child and how to contact them in an emergency
Know the areas that your child likes to play
Never let your child play in lonely or desolate areas
Never let your child go to parks, playgrounds, woods alone
Never let your child wear anything with there name visible on it e.g. t-shirts hair bands necklaces etc.
Always know your children's friends
Make sure that your children are going to suitable places especially if they are teenagers
Don't let your teenagers where unsuitable clothing when going out alone with friends
Always know how your children are getting home

4) Educate your children

Make sure your children know how to handle a situation where they might be in possible danger. Make sure that your children know their full name, where they live, their telephone number, and how to call the police

Safety tips for women

It is an unfortunate age where women have to think twice about taking the last tube or train home on their own or whether it is safe to walk alone at night. However we live in a real world, a world where at the moment many thousands or women are attacked world-wide, raped, sexually assaulted, mugged, abducted and even murdered every year. Women need to empower themselves against these dangerous situations and here prevention is the best possible course of action. Learn to trust your instinct.

Travel

Unfortunately sexual assaults on women on tubes are far more frequent then we would like. The best thing that you can do is be aware. If possible avoid travelling by your self late at night especially if the line you use is not a busy one. Do not willingly travel on dangerous lonely train or tube stations . If you feel that you could be putting your self in danger by taking this journey then don't find another way home. If your instincts tell you someone is following you could be right . If you have a mobile phone use it phone the police ask some one for help or to meet you at the other end of the station.
Use the emergency stop cord on the train if you feel that your personal safety is in immediate jeopardise
If there are other passenger on the train then tell a fellow passenger of your fears ask if they could help you find a train guard at the next station . Do not just get of the train if you feel that you are being followed. Unless you know that you are getting off at a very busy station where there will be a guard or someone to help you .
There is no point in getting off at a quite station where there is no one around.

Car Travel

There have been cases where men have jumped into lone women drivers cars and forced them to drive to lonely spots and then rapped assaulted or even murdered them
Never drive alone with your car doors unlocked.
Never pick up hitch hikers
If you do find your self in a car jacking situation never let the assailant take you to another destination . Blow the horn and stop the car . . Do what ever you need to do to attract action and stop the attacker taking you to the second place. For unfortunately it is here that the assailant will attack.

Socialising

Remember when you are going out socialising that all unknown males that talk to you and offer to buy you drinks and take you home are strangers and therefore common sense and caution is necessary in these situations.
Always buy your own drinks. The commonly known date rape drug is colourless and tasteless so once slipped into your drink it cannot be detected. This drug can render you virtually unconscious and totally defenceless. The drug can only be detected very soon after you have taken it and at this stage you would not be in control enough to leave.
The after effects of this drug is amnesia. It is possible you remember fragments of the night but not enough to recall a whole story. It is very hard to prove a date rape drug case for there is no or little evidence and you don't remember who your assailant it. Never leave your drink and return to it later for the same reason.
Never allow a stranger to take you home even if he appears to be perfectly normal and charming.
Never give a stranger you personal details . If you want to meet again get his number and arrange to meet in a public place and may be bring a couple of friends just until you know him a little better.

Internet Dating

The first thing to note about the Internet is that you can be anybody. A rapist or murder and pedophile could masquerade a perfectly normal person. NEVER EVER give out your address, phone number or any personal details on the internet. Keep Internet meetings impersonal.

Safety at home

It is important not to let your guard down to strangers at home . Home is the place you feel the most comfortable the softest and this is when you tend to drop your guard.
Always lock your doors and windows at night.
Never allow strangers in to your home whether they be the gas man, postman or a police man. If theses people come to your door ask for ID and a reference number then call the police station , the post office or gas board and check to see if they were scheduled to come that day . Ask for the name of the official at your door and always cross check before you let them in . Just because some one looks like a gas man or a police man it does not mean that he is. In the case of identification this can be faked . In short never let any strangers into your home.

General Safety

You have to be aware in this day and age of the dangers that women face. You do not have to fear for your safety every time you leave your house but you do have to be aware . . Be aware when travelling, be sensible about strangers when socialising and lock your doors at night. It is not right that these precautions have to be taken but it is necessary. Keep yourself safe, take a self defence classes and don't take stupid risks with your safety and enjoy your life!

Safety Tips For Men

Men are at risk for one major reason they think that they are invincible. Nobody rapes men, men don't get abducted or sexually assaulted its always women you hear about on the news. Well the facts are Men Do Get Raped , Men are abducted and murderers do not have a women only rule .
The safety tips for men are just the same as the safety tips for women . It may be the case that a smaller figure of men get raped or abducted but it does still happen.
